Our History
Gitman & Associates provides small businesses with bookkeeping, payroll,
staffing, and administrative services – with competitive rates and
outstanding customer service.
From its inception in 2005, owner Jackie Gitman envisioned a company that
would provide bookkeeping and payroll services to small and micro-businesses
who need assistance with:
- Bookkeeping tasks
- Payroll Processing
- Tax Preparation
- Administrative and Secretarial Services
The idea was to provide a non-threatening, non-judgmental approach to
assisting owners with their financials, answering questions, researching
additional resources, and providing support, as needed.
After two years in bookkeeping and payroll, Jackie chose to expand her
services to staffing and employment services, both temporary and long-term.
With more than 30 years experience in business, education, and the nonprofit
sector, she built the company to serve all the tedious and distracting
administrative needs of business owners: bookkeeping and payroll, staffing,
and administrative support.
New Division - Paradise Homemakers
After 10 months in staffing services, Jackie discovered an unmet need for
non-medical in-home care for county residents and their families. Naming
her new division, Paradise Homemakers, she sought to provide all types of
respite and home care for those who need assistance to stay in their homes
as long as possible. Expanding outside Paradise, Butte County Homemakers
was added recently, as the need grows.
Owner Profile
Jackie Gitman
Owner
Jackie is a degreed professional with 30 years experience in business,
education and nonprofit management. Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Jackie
received her B.A. degree in government and education from Ohio Wesleyan
University. After graduation, she traveled to California, landing a teaching
job in Los Angeles. Later, she moved to Paradise, CA where she and her
husband owned and operated two small businesses: a delicatessen, and
clothing stores.
After returning to Dayton, raising a family and garnering extensive business
experience from numerous Fortune 500 company representatives in Dayton, Jackie
found a way to return to her beloved Paradise. After a thorough review of the
opportunities in northern California, she chose to start a bookkeeping and
tax preparation business in Paradise. In two years, she was in her own downtown
Paradise building, offering not only bookkeeping, but a complete staffing and
employment service to Butte County residents and businesses.

Jackie is very fortunate to have a wealth of knowledge and experience in her
company’s Associates:
Cathy Eidem
Senior Associate
Cathy Eidem has been with the company since 2007, when she joined the firm as an
Associate responsible for bookkeeping and staffing services. Since then, she has
helped the company expand its clientele to the adult disabled who require
assistance with managing their Social Security funds. That program has grown to
now serve more than 85 adults throughout the county. Cathy has a BS degree in
Accounting from Chico State University.
Jay Gitman
Senior Associate
Jay Gitman, Jackie’s son, joined the company in late 2010, after several years in
business in the Bay Area. Jay has a BS in Business from San Diego State (2004) and
manages the bookkeeping accounts for the firm, along with various staffing
functions and other duties.
Tracy Hair
Associate
Tracy joined the company this year to help with our in-home care division, Paradise
Homemakers and Butte County Homemakers. With a BA in Liberal Studies from
Chico State University (2010) and as an LVN, Tracy provides scheduling, training,
recruitment, home visits, and Homemaker management for the firm.
Victoria Allen
Associate
We are happy to welcome Ms. Victoria Allen, to assist with recruitment and staffing
services. Victoria has a broad range of experience over the past 20 years, including
bookkeeping, clerical, management, and website content development.
